COVID-19: Maternal Health
Project Launch: 5-27-20
Girlsaide Initiative is a community organization based in Lagos, Nigeria that is dedicated to serving the education and health needs for women, young girls, and adolescent girls in under resourced communities in Nigeria. After completing 3 successful maternal health projects with World Connect, Girlsaide will now utilize this grant to address one of their seven COVID-19 response activities. This project will provide 200 pregnant women with malaria prevention medication (advised by WHO), multivitamins, folic acid, and a birthing kit complete with surgical masks, surgical gowns, and sanitizers. Due to mandated travel restrictions and health facilities only providing emergency services, the Girlsaide team, led by Founder and OBGyn Dr. Abosede Lewu, will coordinate antenatal teleconsultation services until a woman’s delivery date.
