Descolonizando la Educación
Project Launch: 2-26-20
To build on the efforts of their first World Connect project entitled Healthy Pre-Kindergarten Environments, the community organization Descolonizando la Educación used this grant to publish 500 books to support childrens' early childhood education. Parents and children were involved in the writing and illustrating of stories with indigenous Kichwa, Shuar, and Huarani characters and folklore. This will support the rich cultural education for the students as well as their literacy. Beyond that, this project has contributed to greater respect for and cohesion among various indigenous groups in the community.
