With support from World Connect’s Kids to Kids Program, a Healthy Kids Summer Camp was held in the district of Grifo Alto, Costa Rica, to teach children healthy habits. The camp was comprised of two days of talks on nutrition, health, sports, and safety given by a nutritionist, a doctor, a dentist, youth group members, and a police officer. Not only were children involved, but parents were also given information that could help them teach their children even more about leading healthy lives. This camp motivated the entire community and members of the community are beginning to speak up with other ideas on how to improve life in Grifo Alto. The children involved in this camp came away with a motivation to live healthier lives, maintain stronger friendships, and they have an eagerness to participate in physical activities. The Healthy Kids Summer Camp provided children in the community with the skills and knowledge they need to live healthier, safer, and more active lives.
