Project Launch:

Ou Chrov Village is a rural community that suffers from high illiteracy rates, particularly among women and girls. The local high school and primary school have small libraries but they are poorly stocked. This project will expand both libraries by providing a supply of relevant and engaging books, both in English and Khmer, with a goal to improve literacy and reading comprehension. Weekly reading clubs will be established as well as a reading mentorship program in which high school students will read to primary school students twice a week.

Project Update

English and Khmer books have been purchased and delivered to the schools' libraries. Both the primary and high school have established weekly reading clubs, and the mentorship program was successfully launched, with over 100 students in attendance during the first session. Since the arrival of the new books, students and teachers have been using the library more frequently and data reveals that attendence among 7th grade girls have risen tremendously.
