Twisungane-Bavumvu Sustainable Beekeeping for Poverty Alleviation Project
Project Launch: 11-25-24
The Sustainable Beekeeping for Poverty Alleviation project, led by the TWISUNGANE-BAVUMVU group in Rugwiro Village, seeks to enhance honey production, create jobs, and improve livelihoods through modern beekeeping practices. The initiative, supported by a $4,983.70 grant from World Connect and a coinvestment of $2,316.29 from the community will purchase land for a demonstration apiary, install modern hives, and provide training to 15 members (7 women and 8 men). By integrating bee forage planting and honey processing, the project aims to meet rising local market demand while conserving biodiversity and enhancing agricultural pollination. Sustainability will be achieved through reinvested profits, skills development, and strengthened local partnerships.
